Ceramic path

Like a red thread or the green loops of the famous “Grüngeflammten”, the ceramics path runs through the city and draws attention to large and small ceramic treasures in public spaces. So keep your eyes open and your camera ready! An eventful walk can begin…

Ceramic chimes

The ceramic carillon on the Renaissance town hall is made of Meissen porcelain, but it bears the green-flamed decoration typical of Gmunden. At 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., 24 bells will ring out and play different melodies for the audience.

Coat of arms

The city coat of arms on the Traun Gate was designed by the ceramic pioneer Prof. Kurt Ohnsorg. It shows salt skids and salt groats – barrels and ships – referring to the salt trade, as well as a fish, sea leaves and mountains, which make reference to the location of the city.

Salzweiberl

“Das Salzweiberl” at the Toskanaparkplatz is a huge replica of a ceramic salt dispenser.

Students and teachers of the Gmundner Gymnasium were inspired by Antonio Gaudí’s extraordinary chimneys and embellished the break yard with a ceramic fountain on the occasion of their school’s 100th anniversary.

In the foyer of the K-Hof Museum, for people with visual impairments to scan, there is a ceramic model of the town hall with the town hall square, fountain and surrounding houses – the historic steamship “Gisela” also docked here!

In addition, the path passes numerous ceramic reliefs, guild signs, flower troughs with ceramic elements, sculptures on and in the lake and many more sights.

Those who need a rest will find relaxation on one of the ceramic benches on the esplanade.

And for a last picture at the photo point with the green flamed picture frame and the impressive view of the Traunsee with the picturesque castle Ort there is certainly still time!
