For the first time in the 37-year history of the European Capital of Culture, 23 municipalities in the inner Alpine, rural region are joining forces to form a Capital of Culture.

The program strikes a balance between these areas of tension in 4 focal points and shows the possibilities for actively shaping our future with a variety of projects.

In its 4 program lines POWER AND TRADITION, CULTURE IN THE RIVER, SHARING SALZKAMMERGUT – The Art of Travel and GLOBALOKAL – Building The New, the European Capital of Culture addresses important issues of our region, Europe and the world, sets new impulses for the future, brings the diversity of historically rooted and contemporary art and culture before the curtain and connects the region internationally.
