Gmunden is one of the most important ceramic centers in Europe – the annual pottery market, the top-class symposia as well as the carefully curated exhibitions are fixed points in the international ceramic scene. Old harbor traditions and artistic faience still bear witness to the great past, but the city’s sights are set on the future. Gmunden’s contribution to the program of the Capital of Culture Year 2024 is all about ceramics with all its diverse design possibilities. For 2023, the city is striving to become a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities network.
