Academy of Ceramics Gmunden

The Academy of Ceramics Gmunden (AoCG) is a cooperation project between the Gmundner Keramik Manufaktur and the OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH, Upper Austria’s most important cultural and exhibition institution. Europe’s largest ceramics manufacturer opens its doors and kilns to artists in residence and provides them with the entire infrastructure and comprehensive company know-how for their work. Thus, the long company tradition of a symbiosis between design, art and utility ceramics is continued.

The works created by artists are presented to the public in changing exhibitions and explained by the artists themselves during Academy Talks. The regular talks in the form of panel discussions between artists and ceramic experts span a wide range of topics from projects and techniques to formats in which ceramic objects brought along are evaluated.

A central idea of the project is the exchange between artists, staff, experts and also visitors. For this reason, AoCG exhibitions and events are open to the public with free admission.
