PLATEAU BLO. Raum am See (Plateau Blo. Space on the Lake)

PLATEAU BLO is a project of the Art University Linz on the occasion of the Capital of Culture 2024 and deals with floating architecture. In the course of a stay on site lasting several months, students and teachers will jointly construct four platforms that will function as a floating island structure on Lake Traunsee. Among other things, an open workshop for experimental raft building, workshops around questions of raft building and a camp for guest artists are planned.

The finished platforms are anchored near the shore and can be played on and used in different ways. While platform 1 remains open and largely empty, platform 2 serves as a research station for artists in residence. Platform 3 will be designed as a stage for performances and exhibitions, and a year-round sauna will be built on platform 4. After a few weeks, the island landscape is moved on to other locations on Lake Traunsee.
